Restylane®, Juvéderm™, Voluma XC™, Radiesse™ and Belotero™ each have unique properties and specific areas where they produce the best results. In order to obtain the best results, Dr. Spanganberg will conduct a consultation, during which he will discuss your treatment objectives and help decide which dermal filler will best suit your needs. Because all of these products are made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid and are fully and safely biocompatible, allergy testing is not required.
Types of Facial Fillers we Use at The Laser Spa at Sonoma
Provides instant and long-lasting wrinkle correction. It is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler which restores volume and fullness to skin. This multi-use product line corrects fine to moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds of all types, from the fine lines around the lips to deep nasolabial folds.
Before & After Restylane
A highly versatile filler, Restylane is also used to increase fullness and enhance the lips, define the lip line, fill scars and plump up facial areas that have lost their youthful appearance. One common “trouble area” for many patients is the area under the eyes that becomes hollow, creating a worn-out, tired look. Restylane or other dermal injection products may be a viable solution.
Because Restylane is made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid and is fully and safely biocompatible, allergy testing is not required.
Juvéderm™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. Dr. Spanganberg eases the injectable gel under the skin to instantly restore your skin’s volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasolabial folds—the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth).
Juvéderm™ provides a smooth, natural look and feel. The injection process takes only about 15 minutes and results are immediate. Plus, there’s minimal recovery or downtime. Juvéderm™ has been FDA approved to last up to 12 months.
Before & After Juvederm
Recently approved by the FDA, Belotero™ a small particle hyaluronic acid filler product. Because of its fine particle size, Belotero™ is designed for a more superifical fill and is designed especially for the lips, lines under the eyes, and anywhere that would benefit from a filler closer to the skin surface that most other products.
Sculptra™ – is a safe, synthetic, and biocompatible material that is injected below the surface of the skin to correct the effects of fat loss and natural age-related bone loss. Sculptra™ is an injectable volumizing treatment that stimulates the build up of the body’s own collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles and restore lost facial volume to give you a fuller, younger-looking face. Sunken cheeks, temple indentations, and hollows under the eyes regain lost volume over time by Sculptra’s ability to promote production of your body’s natural collagen in the treated areas. This process of natural-restructure of the skin continues long after the course of treatment has been completed.

Sculptra™ provides a gradual and significant increase in skin thickness, improving the appearance of folds and sunken areas. Volume effects have persisted in numerous patients for over 3 years.
More than 150,000 people in over 30 countries worldwide have been treated with Sculptra.(2005 Data)
Sculptra™ has been used since 1999 under the trade name New-Fill in Europe for a variety of facial volume and contour deficiencies. It was approved in Europe to increase the volume of depressed areas, particularly for the correction of skin depression, including skin creases, wrinkles, folds, scars, and eye rings. In 2004, the product was approved in the United States for large-volume corrections of the signs of lipoatrophy (facial fat loss).
Because the main component in Sculptra, poly-L-lactic acid, is a polymer synthetically derived from natural components and is a biocompatible substance (does not harm the body), there is no need to test for allergic reactions. Poly-lactic acid has been used in surgical products for more than 20 years.
Sculptra™ is the “patient” patient’s ideal restoration procedure. Since it takes time for your body to manufacture new collagen, the results will not be instant and usually require 3-6 appointments. But patience has rewards because the new volume is that of your own tissue. Sculptra™ injections can be more globally injected in the face, thereby providing even, soft, natural collagen layers that “age with you.”
The newest product developed by Allergan, Voluma™ is a sister product to Juvederm™. Voluma™, like Sculptra, is designed for filling larger areas like the midface and cheek. Unlike Sculptra™, Voluma™ requires just a single treatment to achieve results and studies show it will last upwards of 2 years. Allergan has enhanced their product line to include the numbing anesthetic lidocaine in the filler to allow for minimal discomfort during the injection process.
